Second term of Sunway University Toastmasters Club

4th July 2013

Marks the date of the new term for Sunway University Toastmasters Club. One year ride from 2012- 2013 has been filled with excitement and bonding. Time flies, it seems like I joined Sunway University Toastmasters Club a month ago, and here we are, a year ahead :)

One thing that I can can conclude throughout the year is that I NEVER REGRET

Because of Toastmasters :

I meet new people , gain experience, being confident and mostly being able to part of a Family :)

Toastmaster Clubbing day - Persona Toastmasters, KLCC

On the 20th, we went to Persona Toastmasters in KLCC. Some of the new members were so excited as some of them went there for the first time. It was a great meeting and meeting other members from other clubs has always been a pleasure.

Here is Sherlyn,TM had given her brief experience in Persona Toastmasters Club :

"It was a greate priviledge and experience to have been invited by Pesona toastmaster to their club meeting. It is my first time going to PETRONAS towers and everything is like a big "WOW" to me.

There is a lot of security clearance before we could enter the tower. We were greeted by a friendly and beautiful lady called Maria. As we move on, i was amazed by the 'Lift". I wondered why the life has only one button which directs to one floor and not like some other normal lifts that I’ve seen. On our way to the meeting room, we could smell the scent of food all along the corridor. When we arrived, i was attracted to the food at the corner of the room! The food preparation was amazing and the food is fulfilling and tasted awesome! The meeting started just in time and we were welcomed by the warmest greeting and introduction by the president. Victor who was the general evaluator of the evening and he delivered some very awesome and humorous comment. I find it very enjoying throughout the meeting. I was also been amazed by the Pesona toastmaster and guest which are staff members from Petronas towers because all of them looks very professional. Towards the end, we were brought to tour around the sky bridge of the petronas tower my Rosidah of Pesona toastmaster. It was a breath taking scene to look from sky bridge of the well know twin towers of Malaysia."

Hello there, yet another SPLENDID night, full of laughter, new stories and new discoveries. It is always a thrill to see a members step up to the challenge in taking various roles in Sunway University Toastmaster Club meetings. I would personally congratulate Adelin Pui,TM , on taking the role of being the TME. Honestly, she did a fantastic job, in entertaining the audiences.

Toastmasters Clubbing Session : Taylors University Toastmasters Club

One the 8th June 2013, our members from Sunway University Toastmasters Club went to Taylors University. Thinesh Naidu, CC is presenting his CC#6: "My Weird but Awesome Life" By his dedication in completing his manual, he has indeed done an amazing job. Nawal Lyana, TM as the Ah-Counter also did a great evaluation. Overall, the setting of the meeting is different from ours, which gives an exciting feeling :)

We don't just do meetings, we create memories

On the 6th June 2013, yet another big turn out from the guest and members. I was given an opportunity to be the Toastmasters of the Evening, but sadly I could not take the chance due to some inconveniences.

But I still do not hesitate in taking at least a role, to spend my time in the meeting I was chosen to be The Table Topic Master. The best part of taking this role is that you can challenge people for their impromptu speech, and hear all their stories that the could create within a short period of time. I always enjoy taking up this awesome role. One of the best topics we "Would you rather be a parent or a teacher?" , "The worst movie I have ever watched" and ect. Trust me, once you come to Sunway University Toastmaster's Club, unexpected things always comes along (in a good way) :p

The meeting was hosted by Victor Ong, ACG ALS - by the look on that, we were certain in expecting another humorous meeting! Indeed it was, I was even told that some people was pleased to see him as the TME. Especially the new members and guest :)

2nd May 2013 - Joint Meeting with Taylors University Toastmasters Club!

'More people in Toastmasters bring us greater SMILES'

That is what I can conclude throughout the whole meeting. This time around, the meeting was joint with Taylor's Toastmasters Club. Yet again a big turn out from all the members and guest which had made the club feeling more lively and vibrant. First and foremost, I would personally congratulate Kelvin Teo for his first time being a Toastmasters of the Evening. Trust me, I was shocked! Reason because he does not sound as it was his first time, he was confident and calm. I personally approached and applaud for his great achievement in conquering his fears.

It is also another frighting day for me. Why? Well, I was delivering my CC#4 (The Little Black Box) . I was quite nervous, but yet again this is my time to step forward and do a speech. Everything turned out great, i did stumble some parts but well I achieved higher confidence level that night. Again, happy to see there were again a huge turn out for this meeting.

Well, this has always been my favorite part of the meeting. Just having to see the guest and new members taking part for an impromptu has always been a challenge. Yet, they raised their hands and ready to talk at any time.
